Bet everyone thought I was dead. No, no, I've made it to DC via Chicago, where I stopped off to see a few people and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was great to see all my old friends again, and I had the added bonus of one of my Kyoto friends who lives pretty nearby coming up to see me. An absolutely fantastic trip, but also an absolutely exhausting one.
Sadly, since one of my Louisiana friend's 21st birthday was the night before I left, I was a little bit out of it

when I was packing and so I managed to leave my camera charger behind. Aaugh! Amazingly enough, though, my camera still had enough juice in it to make it through Chicago, so I may just take it out for a spin this weekend while I wait for my charger to arrive. The sights of DC are beautiful--I can look down my street and see the Lincoln Memorial, the Watergate is mere blocks away, and I work just down the street from the White House. Absolutely amazing....

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

It's hard to get used to the fact that now when I talk about people while walking directly behind them they can understand me.
I'm looking forward to seeing your in-country stuff, and I do hope you finally crossed the turtles on Kamo Gawa.

"I had fun celebrating human tragedy."
I did a project in said Photo class where we took a whole roll of film and we couldn't cut the photos at all and we just had to try and line them up as best we can. We had to use at least 20 of our photos. While it was almost impossible to line everything up, it was amazing what you could see in some photos that you couldn't see in others, so I've learned to appreciate the many-photo collage. Of course, I did that project with a tripod in 3 hours and I did this with a digital in a minute and a half while I was waiting for the bus. Live and learn.

And tell me please,
When age taketh over?
When doth youth
become old?
And when doth moss
taketh over stone?
